COUNTY OF LEHIGH - ACT 88 REPORT FOR THE 2024 General Election

As required by section 1602-1(j)(3) of the Pennsylvania Election Code, Lehigh County hereby reports that the unofficial number of absentee and mail-in ballots which were received by Lehigh County by 8:00 p.m. on November 5, 2024 is:  57,676

NOTICE OF STATEWIDE RECOUNT The Lehigh County Board of Elections will reconvene on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 9:30 am in the Lehigh County Government Center, 17 S 7th Street, Allentown, Rooms 43 A & B to conduct the statewide mandatory recount of the votes cast in the General Election held November 5, 2024, for the United States Senator.

The two share news from the Lehigh County Office of Voter Registration and need to know information for the upcoming primary. The 2022 Primary Election will be held on May 17, 2022. The deadline to apply for a Mail-in Ballot is May 10, 2022. Drop boxes for mail ballots are available for residents at five select municipal buildings in Lehigh County:

All locations will have drop boxes inside the building and will be available for use during normal municipal business hours. Ballots can be dropped off at these locations instead of by mail or by handing them to a Voter Registration Office employee. The drop box available at the Lehigh County Government Center will be available 24/7 and the only box open until 8pm on Election Day.  

YOU MAY ONLY DROP OFF YOUR BALLOT

Certificate of Designated Agent forms can be found at www.vote.pa.gov  This will allow you to drop off someone else’s ballot if they are physically unable to do so.  Each drop box location will be monitored via electronic surveillance. 

All ballots must be enclosed in the yellow Secrecy envelope before being sealed in the mailing envelope. Yellow Secrecy envelopes cannot have any identifying marks.  Mailing envelope must be SIGNED & DATED.  Any ballots that fail to do this may not be counted.

Why am I getting a Mail Ballot application?  (Click Me)

Here are your options for clarity:

One – fill out the application and you will receive ballots this year and remain on the permanent list.  You will receive another letter next February.

Two – Fill out the “Request to Cancel my permanent Voter Status”, Print your name & address somewhere on the form.  We will also be checking return addresses on the envelope.  You will be removed from the permanent mail voting list.  You will have to vote at your polling locations or request a mail ballot.  You will not receive a letter next February.

Three – do nothing.  You will not be mailed a ballot in 2022, but you will receive another letter next February.

Who May Vote by Civilian Absentee Ballot? 

  • Absentee ballots are for voters, who are not military or overseas voters, who have a reason for absence, including voters who will not be in their municipality on Election Day due to work or vacation, voters who are celebrating a religious holiday, voters with disabilities, and voters such as college students who also may be away from the municipality on Election Day, if they don’t choose to vote where they go to school. Absentee ballots are also for those who are unable to attend their polling place due to illness or physical disability.

Who May Vote by Mail-In Ballot?

  • If a voter does not qualify as an absentee voter, they are eligible for a mail-in ballot. An excuse is not required for a mail-in ballot. For example, if the voter won't be absent from a municipality on Election Day and would prefer to vote from home, they may request a mail-in ballot.

ONLY First Time Voters must show ID at Polls:

 Are YOU...voting at this precinct for the first time?

 If you answered YES, then you will be required to provide one of the following approved forms of Identification.

 Approved forms of photo identification (ID must be valid):

  • PA driver's license or PA State Id card issued by PennDOT
  • ID issued by any other Commonwealth agency 
  • ID issued by the U.S. Government 
  • U.S. Passport 
  • U.S. Armed Forces ID 
  • Student ID 
  • Employee ID 

Approved forms of non-photo identification (ID must include the name and address of the elector):
  • Voter's identification card issued by the voter registration office 
  • Non-photo ID issued by the Commonwealth 
  • Non-photo ID issued by the U.S. Government
