Cedar Creek Parkway West is a 156 acre community park in South Whitehall Township. It hosts the largest sports field facility in Lehigh County Parks. While a large portion of the park is used for sports fields, CCPW also offers many opportunities for individual activities and passive recreation. CCPW is has 6 full sized and 3 small sided soccer fields. Three of the fields have lighting for night play. It is one of the premier soccer tournament facilities in the area and the central location for many large regional soccer tournaments throughout the year. Many youth, adult, and school teams compete at CCPW. The soccer fields are maintained by Lehigh County and administered by the Lehigh County Sports Fields Association. There is a full sized competition baseball field and a competition women’s softball field. In addition, there are 4 fields for softball and youth baseball. The baseball and softball fields are administered by the Lehigh County. There are also tennis courts and a basketball court for active recreation. The south end of the park contains a wooded wetland area along the Cedar Creek that is good for bird watching and nature study. The creek continues east of Cedarbrook Road, where there is a pond and trout hatchery. There is a 120 seat pavilion available for residents by permit. There is also a small picnic pavilion and picnic tables for use without a permit. A Master Site Development Plan for improvements to CCPW was approved in December 2011. The plan provides additional soccer fields and a new multipurpose ball field. The plan includes a network of walking and jogging trails through the park and a nature trail in the wetland areas. Other improvements include ADA access, a restroom building, parking improvements, and improvements to traffic flow. Work on the first phase of the improvements began in the summer of 2013.
