Cedar View Apartments opened in 1978 as a housing alternative for low to moderate-income Lehigh County residents 62 years or older, as well as qualified persons who are physically challenged. Cedar View Apartments consist of 199 one-bedroom apartments within a ten-story building located on five acres of maintained property in South Whitehall Township. It is owned and operated by the County of Lehigh and overseen by the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services. Federal or State funds are not used to subsidize this apartment building.

All applicants for this type of housing must be self-sufficient, as Cedar View staff does not provide medical or personal care services. The monthly rent for each unit shall be calculated as a percentage of the tenant(s)' gross monthly income and asset total, as determined by the owner. However, the rental amount shall not be less than an established minimum monthly fee.  Apartments leased at the minimum monthly rent shall be limited to no more than 10% of the total units within the building.  Rental fees are redetermined for every unit annually. Rent includes heat, one air conditioning unit, electric, water, trash collection and sewer. Laundry facilities are available on the premises. Management and the resident association schedule many activities throughout the year for the tenants. Cedar View is also home to a Neighborhood Senior Center During warmer weather, residents can enjoy activities and concerts at the newly constructed pavilion on site. All 199 units are inspected annually and the upkeep of public areas, building and grounds and all apartment units is done on a continuous basis. Public transportation is available at the door.
