Homemaker/Home Support

Homemaker/Home Support Services consist of activities provided to eligible adults who are in need of support to keep them living independently at home. Services are provided with a home health care agency that has a contract with the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services.

Homemaker Services are for adults 18 to 59 years of age, who are a resident of Pennsylvania, meet the 250% Federal Poverty Income Guidelines and meet the service need for the program.   Service need for Homemaker is defined as a consumer who requires help to alleviate an unsafe or unsanitary condition on an emergency basis or if failure to provide the service would result in immediate danger of death, neglect or serious injury; functionally unable to perform life tasks of daily living or care for the person’s dependents; and/or living alone or with other functionally disabled or dependent persons having no family member or other responsible person available to do tasks.

The services provided are basic care and management of the home in order to ensure safe and sanitary conditions; non-medical personal care services; and/or instructions to individuals or family members in home management, the care of dependent members of the household, and in self care.
