Older Adult Day Living Centers operate for part of a 24-hour day and offer interactive, safe, supervised environment for older adults with a functional impairment, and adults with a dementia related disease, Parkinson's disease or other organic brain syndrome. Older Adult Day Living Centers offer a community based alternative to institutionalization and provide a reliable source and respite for caregivers. All Older Adult Daily Living Centers in Pennsylvania provide personal care, nursing services, social services, therapeutic activities, nutrition and therapeutic diets and emergency care. Some centers offer additional services such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, medical services and podiatry.
All adult day centers are fully accessible to the handicapped and/or the more frail elderly person and are all licensed through the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.
It is advised that any individual interested in the adult day center concept, visit the center of their choice accompanied by a family member prior to initiating an application. Visits should be scheduled by appointment with the Adult Day Center Director at any one of the facilities.
