Trexler Nature Preserve, located in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, is only a short distance from major roads including Route 309, Route 22, and I-78. It is about a 20 - 30 minute drive from most locations in the Lehigh Valley and an hour's drive from Valley Forge, Reading, and parts of New Jersey.
From I-78 and Route 22 traveling east
Take Route 100 north for approximately 4.7 miles. Turn right onto Kistler Road. Follow Kistler Road for approximately 1.5 miles. Turn right onto Game Preserve Road. Go on Game Preserve Road 2.3 miles to the entrance gate. Turn right into the Central Range of the Trexler Nature Preserve and go 1.3 miles to the ford of the Jordan Creek and the trailhead of both the Covered Bridge Trail and the Elk Watching Trail. To reach the North Range of the Trexler Nature Preserve go 2.1 miles to Mill Creek Rd. Turn left and continue 1.1 miles to the entrance of the North Range on the right. Continue 0.2 miles to the parking area.
From I-78 and Route 22 traveling west
Due to the closure of the covered bridge on Game Preserve Road, please follow the directions below to the various ranges of the Preserve. Bridge is scheduled to reopen Spring of 2010.To access the North Range From Rt.22 take Rt.309 north, through Schnecksville, 7.7 miles to Mill Creek Rd. Turn left and go 1.1 miles to the entrance to the North Range of the Trexler Nature preserve.
To access the Central Range
Continue on Mill Creek Rd., past the North Range entrance 1.1 miles to Game Preserve Rd. Turn left 0.3 mile to the entrance to the Central Range of the Trexler Nature Preserve (also the entrance to the Lehigh Valley Zoo). Turn right and continue 1.3 miles to the ford at the Jordan Creek and the trailhead of both the Covered Bridge Trail and the Elk Watching Trail.
To access the South Range To access the South Range of the Trexler Nature Preserve turn right at the junction of Mill Creek Rd. and Game Preserve Rd. and go 0.4 mile to Ruheton Hill Rd. go straight 0.8 miles to Jordan Rd. Turn left and go 0.1 mile to the South Range parking area. Directions to the Trexler Nature Preserve Trexler Environmental Center (opening Spring 2010) From Rt, 22 take Rt. 309 north for 4.7 miles to Old Packhouse Rd. turn left and go 0.8 miles to Orchard Rd. turn right and go 0.35 miles to the parking lot .
