2026 Primary Election Results

In accordance with the reporting requirements of Act 88 of 2022, Lehigh County received an unofficial total of 20,206 mail-in ballots and absentee ballots by 8:00 pm on the day of the May 19, 2026 Primary Election.

As voters cast their ballots across Lehigh County today, county officials are sharing details on anticipated tabulation timelines following the close of polls. Members of the media and residents can expect to see results updated as three specific sources of ballots are counted: mail ballots received up until this past Friday, May 15th; ballots cast in-person at county polling locations today; and lastly, mail ballots received between Friday, May 15th thru close of polls today. The county anticipates initial results as early as 8:30pm, with roughly hourly updates to follow.

Earlier this month, county officials communicated with a small number of voters impacted by a clerical error that resulted in them receiving an invalid mail ballot. Every impacted voter was contacted and given guidance on how to cast a valid ballot; and the county has regularly shared updates on mail ballots approved and received. Pennsylvania law has safeguards in place to ensure any ineligible ballots are quickly identified and rejected.
Here’s what you need to know about both the voting and tabulation processes today:

Every voting location across the county utilizes an e-pollbook. These help poll workers verify voter eligibility; confirm voters are voting at the correct location; ensure voters receive the correct ballot; and identify any voter who was mailed a mail or absentee ballot, thus flagging them as ineligible to vote in-person.
E-pollbooks were synced as of Friday, May 15th - meaning that anyone who returned a valid mail ballot prior to May 15th would both have their vote counted; and be ineligible to also vote at a polling place today.
All valid mail ballots received between Friday, May 15th and today will be tabulated only after the county has received e-pollbooks from every polling place following the close of polls. This will allow for a comprehensive cross-check to ensure that no one who returned a valid mail ballot between May 15th and today also cast a vote in-person at a polling place.
Once all in-person votes and valid mail ballots have been reconciled and recorded, election officials then will review any provisional ballots cast. Those which are valid will then be counted and included in the final vote tally.

There are multiple ways members of the media and county residents can keep tabs on Election Day activities and results:

A livestream of pre-canvassing is available now, and will remain active.
The county has shared regular updates on mail ballots approved and received. As of Friday, May 15th; the county had approved 25,688 mail ballots and 44.7 percent of those ballots (11,423 ballots) were returned.
The county anticipates initial results will be available beginning around 8:30pm this evening; with additional updates coming roughly every hour or so.
