Inmate Programs

Inmates may have the opportunity to participate in a variety of programs during their incarceration. These programs range from drug & alcohol counseling sessions and life skills classes to educational opportunities and religious services.

Spiritual advisors and 12-step sponsors may visit 8 a.m.-11a.m. and 12:30-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visits are limited in time to one hour, once a week. Inmates must request a visit from a spiritual advisor in writing. Such requests are forwarded to the prison treatment supervisor.

Information on inmate programs, volunteer opportunities, religious services and spiritual counseling opportunities is available through Treatment Supervisor, Steven Miller at 610-782-3138.

Inmate Accounts:

Inmate Accounts, located in the foyer of the Lehigh County Prison, accepts deposits 8 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Inmates who have been discharged may close their accounts 8 a.m. through 2 p.m.

Inmate Accounts accepts only cash, money orders or certified checks. An inmate may have a maximum of $300 in his account.

Inmate telephones:

Inmate access to telephones is a privilege, not a right. All inmate telephone calls, whether local or long distance, are collect. All inmate telephones are automatically shut-off after 15 minutes.

Inmates have access to telephones within times designated by the Warden. Inmates on Administrative Segregation are allowed one telephone call per day. Inmates in disciplinary segregation are not allowed routine access to telephones.

Incoming calls or messages are not forwarded to inmates unless they involve an emergency such as serious illness, death or impending disaster.

Questions concerning telephone service, billing or blocking inmate phone calls should be directed to ITI at 888-949-3303.

Inmate medical records:

Inmates receive required and appropriate medical care during their incarceration. Confidentiality laws prohibit prison staff from releasing or discussing any medical information without the express permission of the inmate.

Exchange of personal clothing for court appearances:

Clothing may be exchanged for trial and sentencing purposes. Clothing, limited to a suit or sport coat and pants, shirt, tie and dress shoes, may be brought to the facility if the inmate's name appears on the computerized list of court and sentencing appearances. The Lobby Officer has information on the court list.

Release of personal property

An inmate may file a request with the Records/ID Department to have personal property released to a designated person. This request means that all property with the exception of one set of clothing will be released.

It is the inmate's responsibility to notify the designated person of the time to pick up property.

Legal questions

Prison staff may not answer questions relating to legal issues or an inmate's specific case. Questions regarding legal issues should be directed to the inmate's private attorney or to the public defender.

Bail

Information on bail procedures is available through the Clerk of Courts Criminal Division at 610-782-3077. The Office is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays.
